How PHS Came to Be

In the early 1980's, Al Clifton faced a challenge that too many families know all too well. His mother was battling breast cancer, and the cost of in-home care was overwhelming. Al, then co-owner of a construction company, made the difficult decision to step away from his career to care for her himself in her home.

Through that experience, he realized something had to change. Families deserved a more affordable and compassionate alternative to institutional care.

That vision sparked the founding of Personal Homecare Services (PHS). In 1998, Al partnered with his daughter, Kelly Williams, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, to create a service rooted in family values, professional expertise, and a commitment to keeping loved ones at home where they belong. The late Glenda Lewis played a vital role for 20 of those years, aiding in the company’s growth and spirit, and helping shape the foundation of PHS into what it is today.

More than 25 years later, the PHS team continues to honor that legacy by providing reliable, non-medical home care across Louisiana and Mississippi; helping countless families navigate life’s toughest seasons with dignity, comfort, and compassion.
